The 8th slovenian IPv6 symposium will be dedicated to discussing consequences of final exhaustion of available IPv4 address space. The symposium, organized by Go6, Arnes and LTFE, will bring forward national and international cases of managing the lack of internet addresses, vital to unobstructed functioning of the internet.

Lecturers will include Ole Trøanu from Cisco, an active member of IETF and author of numerous RFC-documents in the filed of IPv6 and Ian Farrer from Deutsche Telekom, co-author of the next-generation network Terrastream, based on IPv6 only, currently in pilot by DT on the Croatia Telekom network. Tuesday’s symposium will be followed by two parallel workshops on Wednesday.

V torek, 22. oktobra 2013, bo v Ljubljani 8. slovensko IPv6 srečanje.

simbioza-text

Simbioza is a nationwide digital education project, where young volunteers teach basic computer usage skills to the elderly. Simbioza takes place for the third year in a row at numerous locations around slovenia throughout the week of October 21st- 25th. The core mission of Simbioza is promoting intergenerational collaboration and knowledge transfer as well as life-long learning. The goal of the project is to raise computer literacy and interest in acquiring e-skills amongst the older population – and desires to aid them with their (first) contact with computers and internet. On the other hand the project promotes volunteering values amongst the young and strengthens a proactive approach to the society and their own future.

There are a lot of young people looking for a job. To get a job, they need experience, but to get experience, they have to have a job – a vicious circle that is hard to break. To help the youth break this circle, we have created a 3-day crash course of entrepreneurship, called Startup Arena as part of the biggest youth fair in Slovenia, Študenska arena, which activates the youth every year. The main goal of Startup Arena is to connect the youth with young entrepreneurs, professionals from different
areas, to help and guide them through the process of developing an idea into a start-up company with a goal – to create a first prototype of this idea and test it among the visitors of Študentska arena. 3 days of lectures in a free spirited mood, workshops and networking to help you start your business idea from scratch – an opportunity not to be missed, so get activated in the Startup Arena!

Oliver Reichenstein, the designer of Web Trend Maps, founder of iA and the voice behind many provoking articles (in his blog Logo, Bullshit & Co., Inc.) was born in 1971 in Basel, Switzerland. He learned programming as a computer kid in the early eighties. He designed his first text editor at the same time. He even created a pixel font on a 5 x 5 pixel grid for his text editor. He did all that in order to see more text in the 256 x 192 resolution of his Dragon 32. Some of his ideas came from studying philosophy and making a living as an informatics teacher, teaching MS Word in the nineties, desperately trying to get pupils to stop fumbling and start writing.

After working as an interactive brand consultant for Interbrand Zurich, in September 2003 Oliver moved to Japan and established iA Inc in 2005. Today iA – Information Architects, with offices in Zurich and Tokyo – has the same vision as back in the day: reduce to the essence. Their websites, apps and infographics have become a paradigm of excellence in clarity, simplicity, and performance. With clients like DIE ZEIT, Tages-Anzeiger and Freitag and its bestselling iA Writer text editor they have set new standards in interaction design.

Outside the design world Oliver Reichenstein looks for inspiration in architecture, philosophy and art. (Most often, however, he does not feel any need for external inspiration. He calls himself a designer, because “job titles in our field are all messed up (is it screen designer, interaction designer, interface designer, web designer, UX designer?) and simply “designer” is the easiest answer. It’s also a great conversation starter.”

Njihova spletna mesta, aplikacije in infografika so zaradi svoje jasnosti, preprostosti in učinkovitosti pojem odličnosti. S svojo največjo prodajno uspešnico, urejevalnikom besedil iA Writer, so vzpostavili nove standarde na področju interaktivnega oblikovanja in sodelovali s strankami, kot so Die Zeit, Tages-Anzeiger in Freitag.

Zunaj oblikovalskega sveta išče Reichenstein navdih v arhitekturi, filozofiji in umetnosti.

For all who want to know what the insides of a computer look lie, what are the most common issues and what can we do to mend them ourselves.
We collect used computers, restore them and donate them to those in need. We equip the computers with a Slovenized open-source program package, containing all the necessary tools for beginners and advanced users alike. In Ljubljana (but we also work in other cities) you’ll find us working in a pleasant and social atmosphere in the basement shelter of the Bičje elementary school.

Vabljeni vsi, ki vas zanima kako je videti notranjost računalnika, kakšne so njegove najpogostejše okvare in kako jih lahko odpravimo sami.
Zbiramo rabljene računalnike, jih obnovimo in podarimo socialno šibkim. V Ljubljani (dejavnost sicer poteka tudi v drugih krajih) postopek obnove računalnikov izvajamo v zaklonišču OŠ Bičevje, v prijetnem in družabnem vzdušju.

Lenart J. Kučić: Revolucija Izdelovalcev?

Lenart J. Kučić, Delo newspaper journalist, will present us with a short introductory lecture and will open a discussion where he’ll express his optimistic views on the maker movement as described by the ex WIRED magazine editor, publicist and entrepreneur – Chris Anderson in his book Makers – The New Industrial Revolution.

Anderson connects innovative production techniques like 3D-printing and the newest web technologies, from social networks to websites dedicated to finding financing for your projects. In this cohabitation of resources which make production more accessible, he sees a big opportunity for the entrepreneur society of the 21st century, especially for smaller companies.

Attention! – The landing from optimistic prospects to the very real reality will not be frictionless.

The man with a hat and a vision

A visionary from Chicago suburbs, who achieved one of the most respected global ICT titles, will take us to a new dimension, following technology trends of the future. Kerrie believes in the power of doing and says: “Say it can be done, and do it.”

Changes in business and forces of technological advancement (mobile and social computing, analytics, contest awareness, cognitive computing and cloud) are tearing down the official norms of information services delivery and consumption. Companies that started their businesses based on the broad accessibility of internet, set new expectations for innovation and value creation potential of Information solutions. Mobility is another trend, forcing companies to rethink their business models, as they are becoming inseparable from cloud, mobile apps and services. New flexible and upgradable solutions encourage business solutions to use cloud infrastructure. Business solutions support application programming interfaces, which lead to the so called API  economy. We can say business without an API strategy today is what business without a web strategy was in the 90s.  The democratization process (of innovation, software development, ideas etc.) creates a completely new approach to business value creation. What does it mean? We face a new era of computing. In the coming presentation we will look at this new era and the directions and technologies that power it, and illustrate it with tangible cases.

Kerrie verjame v moč dejanj in pravi: “Say it can be done, and do it”.

Spremembe poslovanja in sile tehnološkega napredka (mobilno in družabno računalništvo, analitika, računalništvo, ki se zaveda konteksta, kognitivno računalništvo in računalništvo v oblaku) razbijajo doslej uveljavljene norme o potrošnji in izvedbi informacijskih storitev. Podjetja, ki so začela poslovati na podlagi svetovnega spleta, so postavila nova pričakovanja glede inovacij in načinov, kako ustvarjati vrednost z informacijskimi rešitvami. Podjetja so zaradi mobilnosti primorana ponovno premisliti o svojih poslovnih modelih, saj so ti neločljivo povezani z oblakom, mobilnimi aplikacijami in storitvami. Demokratizacija področij (inovacij, razvoja programske opreme, idej itd.) ustvarja povsem nove pristope k soustvarjanju poslovne vrednosti. In kaj to pomeni?
